Motorcycle Cops at the Dream Cruise

The Michigan State Police Motorcycle Officers were out in force at the Woodward Dream Cruise today.

Cider, Doughnuts, Horses and Sheriffs - Oh My

   Took mom out for a little 'People Enrichment'  to a local Cider Mill.

   Nice relaxing ride, good mulled cider, awesome vanilla frosted blueberry doughnut (yea I know cops and their doughnuts) and I ran into some of Oakland County's Finest on horseback.

   These Officers patrol the Painted Creek Trail  http://paintcreektrail.org/  here in Michigan.  I am a big fan of Police Mounted Units, though I know they are expensive to operate, I believe they have a valuable place in many Law Enforcement Departments.  Not only do they serve as great ambassadors (everyone was stopping to talk with the officers and pet the horses), but they also enable the Officers to cover  a good deal of varied terrain, afford better and larger site views and are good in crowd control situations.

Of course I always try to obey the traffic laws (as we all should), but still feel more comfortable behind the Police.  Just saying.

   The Royal Oak Police Department was ready for the Woodward Dream Cruise, and so was I (though I think it was a little more fun for me).

With over 1 million attendees expected, 400 police officers were deployed for the event.  From my 'observation point/s' the crowds appeared orderly - just out to enjoy the beautiful day and the classic cars.

I haven't heard the attendance counts as of yet, nor have I heard if there were any arrests or tickets issued.  Sadly, channel 7 did report that a corvette was stolen in Birmingham.  Hopefully, it will be recovered soon.
