Nice relaxing ride, good mulled cider, awesome vanilla frosted blueberry doughnut (yea I know cops and their doughnuts) and I ran into some of Oakland County's Finest on horseback.

These Officers patrol the Painted Creek Trail http://paintcreektrail.org/ here in Michigan. I am a big fan of Police Mounted Units, though I know they are expensive to operate, I believe they have a valuable place in many Law Enforcement Departments. Not only do they serve as great ambassadors (everyone was stopping to talk with the officers and pet the horses), but they also enable the Officers to cover a good deal of varied terrain, afford better and larger site views and are good in crowd control situations.
