Requaled

Double Action Madison Heights, Michigan
The Range Instructor said today; "Shooting is a perishable skill."
So, how do you pass firearms requalification?  Practice-Practice-Practice!

Macomb Criminal Justice Training Center

Went for my firearms requal today.  Why you may ask?  As one of my Academy Instructor would say; "Better to have it and not need it, then need it and not have it."
I'm usually a little nervous about being tested, but with the freezing rain this morning I was concentrating on the slippery roads, and driving safely and defensively (even if you drive safely you still have to worry about the other drivers and how they are driving).  I got to my destination safely and on time, passed easily and the weather warmed up for an easy ride home.  A good day.

Thumbs Up for Michigan

Ok, I know I was going to stay on topic with future blog posts, but this one is just too long for my Tumblr Blog (I keep those short and sweet).

I just finished reading this BuzzFeed Blog Post and as a Michigander via relocation I loved it.  I do think that there are more 'facts' and so I have put together 26 'facts' to add to Ahmed Ali Akbar's 37. So, here are Professor Kim D's 26 additional Michigan 'Facts' that prove Michigan is the Greatest State.

1) - The Henry Ford   http://www.thehenryford.org/

2) - 5 AZA accredited Zoos - Binder Park Zoo, Children's Zoo at Celebration Square, Detroit Zoo, John Ball Zoo and Potter Park Zoological Gardens

3) - Coneys - in Detroit you can easily compare Lafayette Coney Island and American Coney Island as they are right next door to each other and everyone has their own favorite.

4) - Michigan is the Ice Dance Capital of the world.  At the 2014 Winter Olympics 7 of the top 10 finishers trained in Michigan.  This included Canada's 2010 Gold & 2014 Silver Medalists Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir and of course Michigan natives and 2010 Silver and 2014 gold Medalists MERYL DAVIS and CHARLIE WHITE.

5) - Kid Rock

6) - Bob Seger

7) - Jack White

8) - Jeff Daniels

9) - Tim Allen

10) - Timothy Busfield (who is married to Melissa Gilbert and they live in Howell, MI)

14) - Anywhere in Michigan, you are within 85 miles of one of the Great Lakes.

15) - World's largest cement plant - Alpena, Michigan

16) - World's largest limestone quarry - Rogers City, Michigan

17) - American Museum of Magic  http://www.americanmuseumofmagic.org

18) - While the Magic Museum is in Marshall Michigan, Colon Michigan boasts being "The Magic Capital of the World" with Abbott's Magic Company located there.  www.abbottmagic.com

19) - The Detroit Zoo was the first zoo in America to feature cageless, open-exhibits that allowed the animals more freedom to roam.

20) -  Michigan is the only place in the world with a floating post office. The J.W. Westcott II is the only boat in the world that delivers mail to ships while they are still underway. They have been operating for 125 years.

21) -  Indian River, Michigan is the home of the largest crucifix in the world. It is called the Cross in the Woods.
